"Orange and Strawberries" Oil on 5x7 board

I can't help but want to paint strawberries every time I bring them home from the store.

"Pitcher and Lemon" Oil on 6x8 board

I painted this from a picture I took quite a while ago.   I remember setting some things up, and taking pictures to get ideas for paintings, and I forgot about them.   I usually prefer to paint from life, because all the information I need is right in front of me.   A photo seems to pale in comparison, but in this case... I think it helped.    I printed the picture on regular printer paper, and it was pale and off color.  I used it to get the basics down, and then the rest was up to me.  It was kind of nice just to color in what ever way I wanted, and not trying so hard to match every color to my set up.  It came out much looser too, which I like.   I feel like the looser touch might be because I've been drawing alot lately with my pastel sticks, and I like the sketchy look of them.  I think I might try to carry that over into my painting a little more.

"Lemon Wedges on Plate" Oil on 5x7 board

Sold

Here's a picture of my set up and work in progress.  This lemon is the same one I used in my last lemon painting! I found it wrapped up in the fridge, so I thought I'd use it again.  It was a little dry and moldy in spots, but I left that part out of the painting!

I wanted to do another version of this painting.  This time on a larger panel, and with a ribbon bow.

"Chocolate Doughnut and Strawberry" Oil on 6x8 board

I've been wanting to do a painting of some kind of goody lately.  So, when I saw this week's Daily Paintworks challenge was to paint a donut, I couldn't wait to go to the store and pick one out to paint!
This chocolate frosted chocolate donut is my favorite.  I can't remember the last time I've had one.  It looked a bit lonely all by itself on this 6x8 panel, (a bit bigger than the usual 5x7).  So, I added some fruit.  It made me smile that I added the fruit, because after eating a donut,  I would probably eat some fruit to feel less guilty about the donut.

I can't wait for Spring, and I'm excited to see the daylight lasting longer, and the time change will really make a difference!  The sunshine is brighter, the days are warming up, the birds are singing and Easter is just around the corner.  We've had a fairly mild winter here, but even so...Spring can't come soon enough for me!

"Tea, Lemon and Silver Ladle" Oil on 5x7 board

This silver ladle was tarnished so badly it was almost black.  I cleaned it up using  a mix of baking soda and water.  I've never tried that before....it really works well!
