" Chocolate Frosted Doughnut and Strawberry"

Oil on 5"x7" Gessobord
I thought it would be an interesting challenge to try and paint wax paper, and it was! Wow! I don't think I'll be doing that again any time soon :)
Thank you for all of your encouraging and kind comments everyone!!! They are so appreciated!

"Strawberries in a Little Bowl" 5x5

Oil on 5"x5" Gessobord
I bought this little white bowl yesterday, only because I wanted to use it in a painting. The red of the strawberries looks so pretty against the white. And the little white doily has been so fun to paint, I keep wanting to do it again and again.

"Three Cookies" 5x5

Oil on 5"x5" Gessobord panel.
These three little cookies are still sitting beside my easel. I painted them a couple of weeks ago, and haven't had the heart to throw them out. So, I thought I would just paint them again. They still look yummy, even though I'm sure they are very stale by now!

Caravaggio

Oil on 11"x14" Canvas
I did this painting for the most recent "Following the Masters" painting challenge. The theme is the Italian Renaissance. This is an angel who appears in one of Caravaggio's paintings, called " Rest on the Flight to Egypt". I just loved the angel's pose.

"La Primavera"... Spring!

This month on Michelle Burnett's blog, "Following the Masters" the painting challenge is to do an interpretation of a painting from an artist of the Italian Renaissance era. I planned on doing a small painting to submit, but in the meantime, I thought it would be nice to post this one. I did this painting a few years ago, it is from a larger painting by Sandro Botticelli (1445-1510), called "La Primavera" (Spring). I love the figures of the Three Graces, all holding hands and dancing in a circle. It seems that Spring is arriving, everyday it is sunnier, the snow is receding, the birds are singing, it's finally here!!!
