"Milk Glass with Strawberries"




Oil on 8x6 hardboard panel

This little milk glass sugar bowl and creamer looked great next to the bright red berries, and I was excited to paint it until I got to the hobnail design on the glass. I don't know why I just couldn't seem to get it right, I gave it many tries and finally decided that hinting at the shapes and highlights seemed to work well enough.
Time to move on.
I picked out some sea shells for my next painting.

    I just love the wholesome feel to this one, Debbie. Strawberries and cream, to be precise. Milk glass is fast moving up to be a favorite of mine. This is a delight!

    Most beautiful, Debbie. I always saw milk glass as rather bland and boring to look at, but not the way you've painted it with such richness.

    I love the white of the milk glass together with the beautiful strawberries. You were brave to try the hobnail designs - I think you did a great job with it!!
