"Three Little Gourds" Oil on 5x7 hardboard
I found these little gourds at a farm market near my home.. there were bins full of them in so many different shapes and colors. I brought a bunch home, but these were the only ones so far that I could manage to paint... I found it really difficult! I threw in a few cranberries for scale... these gourds are only about the size of a small apple. My favorite part is the twisty stem on the center one.

I like the stems, too.Ad all the vegetables are so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThose cranberries are very striking among the gourds. Lovely painting! You've gained a new follower!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful- isn't it funny how for painters the stem is so important; I can't do simple grocery shopping and not choose the fruit with the most interesting stem.
ReplyDeleteThank You Sylviane! Nicole, Welcome! Judy, thank you, and that's so true about the shopping!! I'm always looking for the prettiest colors and interesting shapes in fruit, just in case I plan to paint, lol!
ReplyDeleteI love your paintings. I came across you on Daily Paintworks...going through the list of artists. I'm getting to a point where I think I'm going to post some paintings....Thanks for saying that you found painting the gourds difficult....I think I'm the only one that finds painting difficult!!! Best regards, Carolyn
