I painted this as the 4th of July holiday was coming up, which inspired the red, white and blue theme. Red and white petunias, and blue bachelor buttons are from my garden. The number 7 is for the month of July.
Below is a work in progress photo of the "underpainting", and my set up. I followed with another layer or two of paint over the next day or two.
