"Fresh Cut Apple"

Oil on 6"x6" Ampersand Gessobord

I was hesitating to try and paint a cut apple because the white of the apple changes so fast and becomes more yellow. And I love the color of that fresh cut apple!! So, I just made sure to try and do the white first before it changed on me. I like how this came out, and the pictures came out good too, I couldn't decide between these two, so I just thought I'd post both.

  1. This is a really nice painting! I love painting cut apples as well, and always feel as if you are racing the clock to beat the fleshy color changing ever and ever more brown. Though on Tuesday I learned that if you spray the apple with lemon juice it keeps the flesh color light longer.

  3. Wow! Debbie I LOVE this painting! Great job! That apple looks so round and very interesting composition! You are so good at painting those reds, without them getting muddy.

Is this Ampersand Gessoboard and what- 5x5?
