"Sand Dollar and Friends" 6x8

Oil on 6"x8" Linen Panel

I tried another still life using some of the same items as last time. This one is on a 6"x8" linen panel that I had made. I had put about 3 or 4 coats of gesso on it, and sanded it before painting. I think the extra gesso made the panel smoother, and better to paint on. My husband thought I should name this painting, " Sand dollar and Friends". I don't usually think up very imaginative titles for my paintings, so I thought this time I'd take his suggestion. It sounds better than, "Butterfly, Hyacinth, Shells, and Ribbon Still Life." :)

Still Life 5"x7"

Oil on 5x7 gessobord.

After an afternoon of trying to set up some sort of still life, my eye was caught by some items that had been collecting on top of a cardboard box. It seems that they had created a more interesting composition all by themselves, than anything I had come up with. So, I painted it. And it was fun, and casual with no pressure. A fake butterfly, a bowl, a ribbon, a pencil, and a little mannequin.

"Tiny Daffodils and Strawberry"

Oil on 5"x5" panel
These little daffodils are blooming in my garden. I thought they made a nice addition to the strawberry in this painting.
