Peonies, Work in Progress

My set up

work in progress
I have been bringing huge bouquets of these white peonies into the house all week, and I have been wanting to try and paint them.  I find I hesitate, because I don't paint flowers very often, but I love them so much that I want to be able to do them justice, and not fail!  So, finally today, I gave it a go... I picked out 2 smaller blooms and some red roses for my set up.  I was happy with how it came out, but the finished painting will have to wait until we get a fair day, so I can take a picture of it.

  1. Thanks Debbie, for showing your set-up. I don't know why I make it so hard for myself- I always just plop my item down on the table, that has all kinds of stuff behind it, no uniform background color or anything.
It's getting to be a bad habit!

  2. Debbie, I want to thank you for showing your setup, too. I'm struggling to find a way to change my perspective and limit the light on my still life. You make it look so simple to construct the box... is it cardboard or wood?
