Below, some in progress photos, the first one is the way I had started the painting, with only the cherries, but I wasn't happy with it. It seemed much better with the slice of melon added! So, I wiped off and started over.
I'm usually listening to music when I paint, and a song came on that I haven't heard in a long time, and the line "speak to me of summer.." stood out to me. We've had such lovely summer weather lately, and cherries are in season, and it seemed to be a fitting title.
