Cyclamen are so fun to paint and draw, their petals twist and turn in every direction! I bought the cyclamen plant in the store, and the forsythia are from a bush in my yard. They aren't in bloom yet, it is too early, but I cut some twigs from it and brought them inside. After a few days in water, they began to bloom!
Below are some work in progress photos, I began on a toned canvas board, with a dry wash of burnt sienna (or similar color, I forget).
Then with thin raw umber and a small brush, I drew the flowers and then filled in with color.
