"Milk Glass with Strawberries"
Oil on 8x6 hardboard panel
This little milk glass sugar bowl and creamer looked great next to the bright red berries, and I was excited to paint it until I got to the hobnail design on the glass. I don't know why I just couldn't seem to get it right, I gave it many tries and finally decided that hinting at the shapes and highlights seemed to work well enough.
Time to move on.
I picked out some sea shells for my next painting.

You did a beautiful job on this. The hobnail dishes are quite lovely!
ReplyDeleteI just love the wholesome feel to this one, Debbie. Strawberries and cream, to be precise. Milk glass is fast moving up to be a favorite of mine. This is a delight!
ReplyDeleteMost beautiful, Debbie. I always saw milk glass as rather bland and boring to look at, but not the way you've painted it with such richness.
ReplyDeleteHey Debbie- thanks for leaving that nice message on my blog; I'm looking at your strawberries though, and thinking 'Boy, I have to work harder'.
ReplyDeleteIt's always something!
I love the white of the milk glass together with the beautiful strawberries. You were brave to try the hobnail designs - I think you did a great job with it!!
