"Tea Cup with Lemon and Strawberry"

Oil on 6x6 Gessobord panel

I think my favorite part of this one is the strawberry, lots of different shades of red, pink and orange. I had a lot of trouble with the lemon, since it is sitting on a silver tray there is quite a reflection coming up from underneath taking out the shadow. I tried to keep the painting loose, but.. somehow, I find I tighten it up a bit in the end. Gotta try not to do that!

  1. The design is fabulous! Your objects go off the canvas dividing up your picture plane beautifully. I love it! Your style is very sophisticated...I don't know that you should "try to be loose"...your paintings are beautiful!

  4. This does indeed have a great, close-up composition, and you paint the best strawberries! I've never attempted one- I'll have to wait awhile since now is not a good season for them in MN, but I'll bet you make them look too easy!
