"Milk Glass with Strawberries"

Oil on 8x6 hardboard panel

This little milk glass sugar bowl and creamer looked great next to the bright red berries, and I was excited to paint it until I got to the hobnail design on the glass. I don't know why I just couldn't seem to get it right, I gave it many tries and finally decided that hinting at the shapes and highlights seemed to work well enough.
Time to move on.
I picked out some sea shells for my next painting.

  2. I just love the wholesome feel to this one, Debbie. Strawberries and cream, to be precise. Milk glass is fast moving up to be a favorite of mine. This is a delight!

  3. Most beautiful, Debbie. I always saw milk glass as rather bland and boring to look at, but not the way you've painted it with such richness.

  4. Hey Debbie- thanks for leaving that nice message on my blog; I'm looking at your strawberries though, and thinking 'Boy, I have to work harder'.
    It's always something!
