I bought these tulips last week. They were growing in a pot and the flowers hadn't bloomed yet. Once they opened, I thought it would be nice to paint them, but I never did. I noticed today, that they had started to die. The petals curling up, and drying, their fragrance gone. And I thought they looked beautiful. Even more interesting than when they were fresh.
The open one looks like it's straining to get one last ray of sunshine, and the closed one looks like it's at peace, and resting. I thought I would paint them today.
And I love the background color too.
