Fiesta Sugar bowl

I borrowed this little vintage sugar bowl from my Mom, I love the turquoise color of it, and it's shape.  I thought the yellow color of the butter would go nicely with it, and I propped up a wallpaper design for the background.  I'm finding that these colors are quite different than what I usually pick to paint, so I'm having trouble trying to decide whether or not I like it.  It's coming together slowly....  and since it's getting late, I'm going to have to continue working on it tomorrow.

    1. Hi Karla, the turquoise color was made with winsor blue (phthalo blue) and white, with a touch of yellow ochre.

  2. You put together the most wonderful scenes. Looking at it I can picture the sugar cookie batter the ingredients will go into. I like the idea of putting wallpaper behind it. Do you get wallpaper samples to use for this purpose? I'm curious how long you take to get the still life set up the way you want it and how long it takes to draw the composition with all those details. Your blog and art are my favorite of all that I follow.

    1. Hi Jana, the wallpaper was from an image I got from a wallpaper website, and printed out. It took a couple hours I guess to arrive at this set up.. I had a few other versions with a book, and a lemon... I might still go back and do those too :-)
